PHLEBOTOMY

Phlebotomists perform blood collection procedures, draw blood and handle, transport and process blood samples.  This course provides theoretical and technical introductory skills of a phlebotomist including anatomy and physiology of circulatory system, medical terminology, hospital departments and clinical laboratory procedures, safety, types of laboratory analyses, specimen collection including techniques, equipment, sources of error and medical legal issues in the practice of phlebotomy.

 

Linux System Administration

Hands-on class designed for experienced Windows desktop / system administrators, LAN gamers.  Class is heavy on Labs, designed to teach how to employ Linux technologies in a server role for most major network services.  Students build solutions themselves and as teams, with input from instructor.  The goal is for students to think on their feet with their newly acquired skills so they are ready for deployment.
Prerequisites:  Basic Windows troubleshooting, hardware, keyboarding, comfort with command-line.

Storytelling brings literature alive for children.  This course is intended for teachers and other participants who work with children from Pre-School through the early elementary grades.  Participants will learn and practice techniques of storytelling while discovering ways to incorporate audience participation and creative dramatics to enliven any story.

This three full days of professional training and certification from VTC and is for anyone looking to advance their job skills and prospects.  Training includes instruction for safe work practices and the theory, methods, techniques, and tools for the installation of energy efficiency retrofits. Training focuses on demonstration and hands‐on application of advanced air sealing and insulation techniques, blower doors, mechanical ventilation, hand and power tools, safety measures, furnace ductwork problems and solutions, accessing attics, etc. Weatherization Installer Training includes lecture material on building science and construction technology as well as hands on lab exercises. Training is subsidized by a grant from the Vermont Green Energy Training Partnership, a program of Central Vermont Community Action Council.
