This is a basic "how-to" class for anyone who wants to do maintenance and upkeep on their car or learn basic skills for work as an auto mechanic. This class teaches the basic concepts of automotive technolgy, maintenance and repair.
Topics: Shop safety and lube, oil, filters; alignment; Brakes - Disk, drum; Tires and coolant levels; Engine performance - check engine light, and tune ups; Battery service and basic automotive electrical / meters and test lights; Small entines - lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc. Preparing for winter and spring. Students will be able to work on their own cars or small engine projects.
ASE Automotive Service Excellence
Prep Class

This program is for students with some automotive service experience who want to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to attain Automotive Service Excellente (ASE) certification. The curriculum covers theory and application. Automotive Service Excellence areas include: Engine performance, Suspension & steering, Brakes, Exhaust systems, Electrical/electronics systems, Transmissions, and Drive train. Students will be given information and paperwork to sign up for Spring ASE testing. Testing is not done at Northwest Technical Center. There is an additional charge for testing.
